Kakes and Beege is so happy to have Aaron join our family!
I guess I was destined to be a fashion designer from the start. My dad, who worked in the car industry and had no connection whatsoever to the design world, chose to name me after a designer. Tina Wetherill Leser was a fashion designer in New York from the 1940s until her death in 1986. Thankfully, I was born with some artistic ability and was accepted into Columbus College of Art and Design after high school.
But, being a fearless twenty-year-old, I decided to quit and try modeling instead. After another stroke of luck, I was able to work around the world, finally settling in Chicago in 1982. Fast forward to meeting my husband, Frank, starting a family and enjoying watching my kids Katy (Kakes) and Frankie (Beege) grow up.
As the years passed, I grew a small business doing artwork and painting murals, with fashion design always in the back of my mind. Still thinking about my namesake, I decided to start sketching women's skirts. I thought other women might like the skirts, but the sketches were put on the back burner...until now!
So, here we go! Better late than never :)
I love our skirts – I feel they are an all-day piece for your wardrobe. From desk to lunch to dinner and beyond! Dress them up, dress them down. wear with heels, boots, gym shoes, or flip flops. Pair with a blouse for work, silk top, turtleneck, hoodie!
But most of all –
Tina (design), Frank (business)
Kakes and Beege <3
We would like to thank Tom Maday for all his help with his beautiful photography of the skirts. His attention to detail and time spent has made the process enjoyable and perfect!
